Jerry Fairchild

Real name: Jerome Hallock Fairchild

Barbershop tenor vocalist and choral director.

Born on May 3, 1931 in Gary, Indiana. Jerry attended Arizona State where he got his bachelor’s and then UCLA where he got his doctorate.

Jerry began directing the Citrus Belters Chorus when he moved to Riverside, California. He lead them to three District championships and three 5th place bronze medals at international.

He began singing with the Sidewinders in 1961 with Joe Daniels, Gene Boyd, and Jay Wright and they won the 1962 Far Western District Championship and the 1964 SPEBSQSA International Championship. He sang with them until their retirement in 1969. After the Sidewinders, he and Joe sang together again in the popular show quartet, RSVP.

Jerry later on began publishing gospel music and singing tenor with the Good News Gospel Quartet. He sang with them from the mid-80’s to the late-90’s and released several albums and songbooks with them.

Jerry remained active in his church and in barbershop all the way until the end of his life.

Jerry passed away on March 12, 2014 at the age of 82.
