Sloan Bey was one of the original members and the lead singer of The Thieves. The song’s producer, Bud Ross, also from Philly, who said that Bey had a great and soulful sound, similar to Sam Cooke. Ross signed a deal with White Whale Records who had a big hit with The Turtles « Happy Together ». White Whale wanted to create a subsidiar
