Jan Waterman

Real name: Jan Waterman

Effective period / Period of releases: 2013

Born in 1983 and a resident of Breda, The Netherlands. Jan's interest in electronic music emerged during his childhood in the early nineties, getting introduced to techno, (euro) house and (happy) hardcore. In 1999 he developed a serious interest in trance and started producing. From 2004 onward, labels like Afterglow, Deepblue and FiveAM picked up his productions, made under the aliases Son Of A Pitch, Yanave and Evanya. They received support from big names like Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Solarstone.

During the late zeroes Jan's musical taste shifted towards electro house and techno. Eventually he focused mostly on "complextro", a subgenre of electro house, in which he released tracks & remixes using his own name. Labels like Big Fish, Bazooka, Sick Slaughterhouse and Big Alliance were a familiar home. Techno-wise he started releasing under the Men At War alias, mostly in the "hardgroove" subgenre. Around 2014, Jan took a hiatus from (frequent) producing.

Fast forward to recent times... Jan has set up a new nostalgic project called Januskopf, which represents some of the harder styles of the ninetines and zeroes, like early & UK hardcore/gabber.
