English poet, critic, and philosopher, born October 21, 1772 at Ottery St.Mary, Devonshire, died July 25, 1834 at Highgate, London. Do not confuse with the composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.

He is considered one of the leading figures of the Romantic Movement and is best known for his poems The Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan, as well as his major prose work Biographia Literaria.
