The Mannin Folk have been the Isle of Man's most popular folk group since their formation in the early 1970's. This was their first album ''King of the Sea''produced by Terry Clough for Kelly Records and recorded at the Eamonn Andrew's Studios in Dublin.
The Laxey Wheel song written by Stuart Slack, became an immediate favourite with the Islands residents and visitors, and was the most requested song ever on the local radio station, Manx Radio, and at all the live events where the group played around many of the Islands pubs and clubs .
