Real name: Leslie Conway Bangs

December 14, 1948 – April 30, 1982
American music journalist, author and musician. Highly influenced by the beat poets and gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson.
He began as a freelance writer, responding to an ad in Rolling Stone soliciting readers' reviews. His first piece was a negative review of the MC5 album "Kick Out The Jams". He later worked for Creem, The Village Voice, Penthouse, Playboy, New Musical Express and others.
Died in New York City, of an accidental overdose after treating a cold with Darvon and Valium. He was listening to the Human League's "Dare".
