She was also an accomplished classical violinist, studying at The Royal Conservatory of Music. She performed many comedic musical duets with her mentor Jack Benny. She was a guest on numerous TV variety shows. Her daughter Gigi included a duet with her mother "Stranger In Paradise" on her 2006 album "Skylark".
She charted six times in the U.S. and once in the U.K. between 1952-1956, lead by the song "Hard to Get", which hit #4 in the U.S. in 1955. "Seven Lonely Days" hit #7 in the U.K. in 1953.
