Music that began as a chill-out project soon began to embrace the dark side. Although elements of chill, relaxation and audio therapy remain, Alchemy is anything but a standard piece of coffee table ambience.

“Dangerously close to chill-out but dark enough to worry the neighbours”, is as clear a description as there’s ever likely to be.

“Too often chill-out music relies on formula to achieve a pleasing result. It’s become stale and just a little corporate. I like the idea of throwing a pneumatic drill halfway into an eight minute piece of tranquil ambience - BAM! - palpitations, cold sweats and, slowly so they don’t notice, back to tranquility. I don’t see why chill-out can’t have a bit of an edge and still be relaxing.”
