Melissa Cox is a French multi-genre singer but grew up in Australia. She studied classical violin while an Aussie. From there, her interests grew into jazz, folk, rock and world music. She also recorded electro-pop as Black Sesame.

She moved to Paris to study at L'Ecole Normale du Musique and it was while there that she appeared on projects with Elliott Murphy, Olivier Durand, Inga Liljeström, and Delaney Blue. Cox plays in a duo with fellow Australian ex-pat Chris Kenna as simply Kenna & Cox.
