The Great Western Squares was a country-tinged band which was based in the Phibsboro area of Dublin. The group was formed out of ashes of "The Johnny Cash Appreciation Sociaty" which used to gather together in pub in the that Dublin suburb. The group featured Gary Fitzpatrick [Vocals & Guitar], Oona White [Vocals], Stan Erraught [Guitar], Tim Rogers [Fiddle], Gary O'Growney , Pat McGauley [Bass Guitar] and Alan Murphy [Drums].The band released a pair of albums during its career - 'Judas Steer' [1997] and 'Almost Sober' [1998]. It's believed that a third album was recorded but never released.
The band split somewhere around 1999.
