Pirate Jenny Trio was founded in the year 2000 in Toronto, Canada. Named after the song "Pirate Jenny" (German: "Seeräuber-Jenny") from Kurt Weill's and Bertolt Brecht's "The Threepenny Opera" the trio performs a repertoire of both classic material by writers and composers including Brecht, Weill, Hanns Eisler, and Cole Porter and more recent work by the inheritors of the cabaret tradition such as Jacques Brel and Tom Waits. The trio also makes its own contribution to the tradition with an increasing number of original compositions.
