DIN (A) TOD mastermind and singer Sven Claussen returns with his new project. The limited 7 "single" Kronos "provides a first insight into a playful sound universe of Cold Wave and Minimal Electro. The name Sleepless In Pyongyang arouses quite contradictory associations: On the one hand he lets the barren cold and dehumanized dominance of a totalitarian regime think the other hand, he gets through (certainly deliberately chosen) to title a very successful romantic comedy yet another dimension. Both poles could rewrite the music of Sven Claussen new project much better. The theme song of the debut single "Kronos" mixed electronic cold with ominous distorted voice to an intimidating, musical vision in a monolithic song, which is marked by the pervasive impact of electronic machines. The B-side "Starlight Desperation" comes then clearly airy therefore. Worn by cult machines like Roland TR-707 and the Juno 60 synthesizer awakens the song memories of the heyday of the Cold Wave, influenced by bands like the early trisomy 21 and shows that Sleepless are in Pyongyang difficult to put in a special drawer , Produced by Christiano Santini of the Italian industrial band Disciplinatha makes the single wanting more. Retro charm meets unbridled experimentation in tracks that simultaneously touch, disturb and captivate.
