Vasa's flora and fauna make music with lyrics that often touch on the home regions and dialect of Vasa in Ostrobothnia. Originally, Vasa's flora and fauna consisted of the duo Mattias Björkas and Iiris Viljanen. After the recording of the debut album Släkt med Lotta Svärd, Viljanen dropped out while Björkas continued the project with singer Tina Kärkinen and pianist Daniel Ventus.
