Only use this profile for credits referring to the choir from until 1945.
For credits referring to the choir from 1946 and later, please use Kinderkoor Jacob Hamel or Het Avro Kinderkoor.

In 1929 the "AVRO's Kinderkoor" was formed under the leadership of Jacob Hamel (1883-1943).
In May 1940, immediately after the German occupation, the Jewish Jacob Hamel was fired. During World War II Hamel was killed in Sobibor.

After the war, the children's choir was continued in 1946 under the name "Kinderkoor Jacob Hamel". From that year on conductor was Herman Broekhuizen.
Often the choir from 1946 and later is incorrectly still called "AVRO Kinderkoor", but the official name is "Kinderkoor Jacob Hamel".
