Real name: Michael Savoia

Mikie Da Poet, born Michael Savoia to parents of Italian descent, began rapping at 12 years of age, while playing basketball with other children near notorious Chicago housing project, Cabrini-Green.

In 1999, one of his songs was featured on the double mix CD "Monsters of the Midway", best known for the song "Midwest Invasion" with Twista and Layzie Bone.

Da Poet released three albums by 2003, and was featured on albums that include artists Twista, DA Smart, PsychoDrama, Do Or Die, DMX, Crucial Conflict, Malik Yusef, and Teefa.
