Born in Rotterdam in 1940, died in Capelle aan den IJssel in 2013.Dutch organist and pianist John Verkroost was a visually handicapped son of a baker. Every melody was in his head, because he was unable to read sheet music. He played in concert halls to back up well-known artists such as Lee Towers, but also worked as an entertainer in restaurants and during seniors outings.
