Dick Cranbourne

Real name: Richard Kraymborg

Australian vocalist, musician & broadcaster (b. Bairnsdale, Vic. 1905 - d. Melbourne. 27 Dec., 1971)

Played cornet in brass band aged 9, and also with family orchestra. Later played violin in silent movie houses as well as worked as a jockey. First professional job was with Radio 3LO inn Melbourne, and later joined the Clarrie Collins band for a three month Tivoli circuit playing saxophone. Short stays with other bands in the 1920s & early 1930s. Joined the Jim Davidson ABC Orchestra in 1935, mainly worked as a vocalist but sometimes played in the saxophone section. Worked at Radio 3DB 1941-1967.
