Active Dog

Members: Robert Bruce (2), Buck Cherry (3), Bill Scherk, Ross Carpenter (2), Terry Bowes

Canadian punk band from Vancouver, BC, active 1978-1980.

Formed in 1978 when members of The Monitors — Bill Scherk (aka Bill Shirt), John Armstrong (aka Buck Cherry), and Gord Nicholl – moved from Surrey/White Rock to Vancouver and formed a partnership with members of East Van band Frantic Technicians — Ross Carpenter (2), Robert Bruce (2), and Terry Bowes. Other occasional members included Art Bergmann, Tony Bardach, and Zippy Pinhead.

The band broke up after Gord Nicholl and Robert Bruce defected to The Pointed Sticks. John Armstrong, Bill Scherk, and Art Bergmann would reunite in Los Popularos. Armstrong would also form the Modernettes.
