Vaughan Lawrence
Real name: Eric Lawrence Fryer
Vaughan Lawrence was born Eric Lawrence Fryer on September 13th, 1944 in Liverpool, England. In 1951, Lawrence, his parents and two brothers immigrated to New Zealand via Australia. He was educated at Mount Albert Grammar In Auckland,His more than 268 television appearances in New Zealand include The Music Makers and Happen Inn. He also co-hosted Smile with Beverley Lee which was a six part series, filmed in different Auckland locations. With more television shows and appearances, he became a household name in New Zealand.
In 1972, his song "Take what You Can" was featured on 20 Studio One Hits album. This later appeared as his first single Take What You Can" / "Go Away Little Girl " was released on Polydor. Later that year he followed up with "So Long Love" / "My Ship Is Coming In" which was released on Philips.
He performed at various cabaret locations around the world and also was a support at for Shirley Bassey, Cilla Black, Roberta Flack, The Four lads Tommy Trinder and The Young Americans.
He also had acted on stage and in some television series.He played the role of Charley in the stage play Charley’s Aunt, Caiaphas in the Rock Opera Man of Sorrows. The television drama shows he acted in were acted in were The Producers, A Going Concern, The Mackenzie Affair, and The Restless Years.
In later years he became involved in real estate.
