Quoted from CBC Enterprises Concert in The Park album: "The Edmonton Wind Ensemble, the outgrowth of many band groupings over the years in Edmonton, formally came into being in 1979 for the CBC TV… which brought together professional musicians primarily from the ranks of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, was led by Harry Pinchin, long associated with concert bands, former principal trumpet of the Calgary Philharmonic and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and prior to that a member of Lord Strathcona's (Royal Canadians) Canadian Forces Band."
