Rie Asakura is a Japanese singer born 1953 in Tokyo.She started her musical career as a member of the Singing Angels, a choir formed by Toshiba Records.
Later she became a solo artist, singing nursery rhymes, anime songs, and commercial songs under the name Taeko Sakurai.
In 1972, she passed the audition for CBS/Sony and made her debut album "あの場所から" as Rie Asakura in 1973.
