Real name: John Philip Paynter
Do not confuse with British composer John Frederick Paynter.American band conductor, arranger, composer, music educator (b. Mineral Point, Wisconsin May 29, 1928; d. Glenview, Illinois February 4, 1996). He is known primarily for his many concert band compositions/arrangements and his long association with the Northwestern University music program.
