Biography
Music In The Russ Morgan Manner
Effective period / Period of releases: 1936 - 1938
Members: Russ Morgan (2), Mert Curtis
Sweet dance band of the 1930s and 1940s led by Russ Morgan (2)"Music In The Russ Morgan Manner" was the name of a successful radio show hosted by Russ Morgan (2). While the Morgan band recorded for Brunswick, from 1936 to 1938, the labels used "Music In The Russ Morgan Manner" as the name of the orchestra. Later, when they switched to Decca, a shortened version of this name, "Music In The Morgan Manner," continued to appear on labels, but only as a tagline below the orchestra name Russ Morgan And His Orchestra.
Use "Music In The Russ Morgan Manner" as PAN on all releases that credit the orchestra this way (i.e., Brunswick, Harmony (4), Silvertone, British Decca). On other releases (e.g., U.S. Decca), where "Music In The Morgan Manner" appears in a smaller font below the orchestra name, use that orchestra name, Russ Morgan And His Orchestra, as the PAN and list "Music In The Morgan Manner" only as a tagline in the notes.
