Hennie Bekker

Zambian-born composer (born 1934), arranger, producer and keyboardist based in Toronto, Canada since 1987. Best known for his New Age sound on the Solitudes, Kaleidoscopes and Tranquility album series. He was also a creative force behind BKS, one of Canada’s most successful techno/dance bands.

Raised in a Zambian mining town, Hennie spent eight years performing with various bands throughout Zambia, South Africa, Congo and Zimbabwe before settling in Johannesburg. There he formed several bands and eventually became musical director for Gallo, and then Teal Records. Bekker went on to produce and arrange countless works for well-known South African artists. He also released a handful of solo albums on various record labels.
