Klaus Achs was born in 1933 as a German in Banat (Romania). From 1955 to 1960 he studied trombone and music theory at the Academy of Music in Bucharest. He then worked as a first trombonist at the Bucharest Philharmonic and as a permanent member of the local radio orchestra. In 1962 he managed to move back to Germany.
From 1967 to 1969 he was conductor of the famous brass band Die Bückeburger Jäger, in 1979 Klaus Achs became head of Musikkorps der Landespolizei Schleswig-Holstein.
