Dobie got his first pair of turntables way back in 1982 and began cutting up anything and everything on vinyl. Hip-hop was his first love but punk, rock and electronica have always been a part of his eclectic musical equation.
The Dobie nickname comes from his quietness in the studio, which friends said reminded them of the Dolby on their hi-fis, and his resemblance to Captain Dobey (Bernie Hamilton) from the TV series Starsky & Hutch.
