The Poor Boys

Effective period / Period of releases: 1959

Members: Dave Pederson, Terry Lee (14)

Rockabilly garage band from North Dakota. Considered by many to be North Dakota's first Rock & Roll Band. They formed in 1955 and recorded 2 singles for Minnesota's Soma records in 1959. (Only 1 of which, My Little Sue, was ever officially released until the Norton reissue collected all 4 songs together.)

Somewhat notable for having filled in on the Winter Dance Party show at the Moorhead Armory the night of February 3rd, 1959, when Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper perished in a place crash.

They also employed a young piano player named Bobby Zimmerman (aka Bob Dylan, then calling himself Elston Gunnn) in the band for a single day before he was fired and went to work with fellow North Dakota musician, Bobby Vee.
