American pop and jazz vocalist and harpist from the 1950s -1960s.Born in Kelso, Washington. She came from a musical family and began singing at six. She went to school in Portland, Oregon and her mother taught her harp and piano. She dreamt of singing opera but switched to more popular music while still young. She majored in philosophy at Stanford University.
She moved to New York and was discovered by Graham Prince, who became her manager.
