Greg Sagar grew up moving around California, eventually settling in the Bay Area. It’s a mystery how he makes music. Playing left-handed (upside down), he couldn’t standardize his approach if he wanted. His work comes from being in touch with his subject matter – the outcome of an innate sensibility. Absorbing aspects of Flamenco, Andean and a touch of Brazilian along the way, he found in them a connecting thread to places experienced directly in his earliest years. The lyrical phrase and savored note – learned from the Blues – are intrinsic to his sound.
