Ghanian singer popularly known by as Kontoponi Aferi, hails from Kontoponi Aferi, Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
At 30 she joined the Manhyia Tete Nyomkro group and later by 1958 decided to be on her own.
She formed the Kwame Nkrumah Nimdie Nyomkro group. In 1966 the name of the group was changed to Kumasi Nimdie Nyomkro
