Göteborg Wind Orchestra (GWO), formerly known as GöteborgsMusiken, is a professional wind orchestra in Gothenburg, Sweden and hosts concerts in Kronhuset and throughout Västra Götaland.
The musical activity has long and proud traditions and has been developed from Göteborgs Spårvägspersonals Musikkår formed in 1905. From a pure leisure activity, the orchestra in various stages became partly professionalized and eventually became the name of Spårvägens Musikkår. The orchestra became a full-time professional ensemble and was named GöteborgsMusiken when the foundation was formed in 1992. In 1997, GöteborgsMusiken took over the function as the Swedish Air Force's Orchestra and performed the task of the Swedish Armed Forces. The orchestra changed its name to Göteborg Wind Orchestra in 2007. The mission as the Swedish Air Force's Orchestra ended in 2009.
