Real name: Paul Emlyn Crowther

Paul Crowther (born 2 October 1949, Dunedin, New Zealand) is a New Zealand drummer. He was the drummer for Split Enz from July 1974 to November 1976. As well as drumming on the first two Enz albums, Crowther was an electronics and live sound expert who also built the synthesizers used on Split Enz - Mental Notes. He invented the HotCake guitar distortion pedal in 1976 and in 1996 he created the 'Prunes and Custard', originally designed as a bass guitar distortion pedal.
