Real name: Фёдор Яковлевич Заркевич (Fedor Yakovlevich Zarkevich)

Theodore Zarkevich, also known as "Theo" (23 April 1893, Russian Empire — 23 January 1977, Freehold, New Jersey), was an American guitarist, band leader, composer, arranger, and music pedagogue of Russian descent. He immigrated to the USA in the early 1920s, serving as the chief Slavic repertoire adviser for Victor Gramophone Co. and leading many prolific ensembles, most notably The Gypsy Wanderers. Zarkevich taught at Saint David's School and New York College of Music, relocating to New Jersey in 1948 and retiring from full-time teaching twenty years later.
