The Golden Harmonettes

American all-female gospel singing group.
In 1959, a group of young Christian women organized the Temple of Peace Harmonettes (later renamed the Golden Harmonettes) under the leadership of Pastor I. B. Martin, along with Marva Bright and Carolyn Pettis. After several months, JoAnn Oliver joined the group and became its voice instructor. In 1975 the group ang to 21,000 people at the Cleveland Municipal Stadium.
Members included: Jean Banks, Irene Caesar, Marva Bright, JoAnn Oliver, Velma Peoples, Ann Killings, Phyliss Jackson, Betty McDonald, Flo (Flora) Jackson, and Bessie Henderson.
