Dean Parker & The Redcaps

Effective period / Period of releases: 1962

Thanks to their musical talents, a young David Parker (Dean's real name) and The Redcaps were signed by Decca, a feat that even The Beatles didn't succeed at. A first, and only, single was released in 1962.
Although rather short lived, Dean Parker and The Redcaps was a very fine band, and the pride and joy of young Cambridge at the time. David's parents were at the time the proprietors of the Crown Hotel on Hills Road. This is the same road on which Syd Barrett grew up and also where the school is located that inspired parts of The Wall by Pink Floyd. The Redcaps used an upper room of the hotel for their rehearsals.
