After their previous band Banda Macho dissolving in 1976/1977?, and Virgilio Canales the former band's keyboard player and musical arranger, leaving and forming his own group Liberación, the lead vocalist for Banda Macho, Luis Antonio Diaz decided to form a new band with some of the original members from Banda Macho under the new allies "Sol Banda." They were semi-successful and most their songs consist of covering international hit songs from various different gernes, sung in Spanish. They would also go through the same faith as Banda Macho did, with the band dissolving around the early 1980s, leading to under new band, under a new allies known as Banda Supermacho.
