Polly Magoo were originally Pete Gleadall (programming/guitar), Christine Jouandet (vocals), Frederick (lead guitar), Alan (percussion) and Lesley (backing vocals). They debuted on a cassette release which accompanied the June 1985 issue of 'Electronic Soundmaker Magazine', as Poly Magoo, with the track 'For Holiday'. A few sporadic singles appeared between 1989 - 1992 - 'Fais Vite!', 'Kiss You Now' and, 'Fly', by which time they were down to the duo of Gleadall and Jouandet.

the band's name is taken from William Klein's 1966 French film satire, 'Who Are You, Polly Maggoo'.
