US songwriter (Apr. 26, 1929, Galveston, Texas - Dec. 24, 2008, Farmville, Virginia)
Best known for his 1951 song, "The Thrill Is Gone," written with Roy Hawkins (often incorrectly credited to Dale Petite & Art Benson). (Not to be confused with the 1931 song of the same name written by Lew Brown/Ray Henderson). Early in his career, he performed as "Ravon Darnell" and recorded several singles.
