Georgie Porgie & The Cry Babies made their concert debut on November 3, 1964 at the Loew’s State Theatre in Providence, US. Unfortunately, the group was billed as “The Georgie Porgies”, but everyone in the area already knew who they were. George, of course, cashed in on the mistake! There was a general feeling in the group that “Cry Babies” was not an appropriate name for a backing band with two guys in the lineup, so they began billing themselves as The Georgie Porgies.
