Smoke Thief

Real name: George Art Baker

Born in Torbay, Devon, George Art Baker (MA Music Performance) graduated from Chichester University and moved to Japan in 2012. In 2014 he joined Brave Wave Productions (http://www.bravewave.net/smoke-thief/), a game music oriented record label and soundtrack company. His first release on Brave Wave was a remix of Keiji Yamagishi's Bounty Hunter, which was selected as the closing track for the album (http://store.bravewave.net/track/bounty-hunter-smoke-thief-remix). Since then he's released a hit album 'Heart Beat Circuit' (http://store.bravewave.net/album/heart-beat-circuit) for which he collaborated with some of Japan's finest game composers, including Manami Matsumae (Mega Man), Saori Kobayashi (Panzer Dragoon series, Crimson Dragon) and Takahiro Izutani (Metal Gear 4, Bayonetta).
In November 2015 he was diagnosed with arthritis and CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) and was unable to play music for 6 months. He has since created a Patreon to help support his music and meet spiraling healthcare costs (http://patreon.com/smokethief). Despite these obstacles, he continues to write, produce and perform in Tokyo.
