Kruiz (Russian: Круиз) is a hard rock/heavy metal band from Moscow, Moscow, Russia (former USSR), that was formed in 1980.

The history of the band is really complicated:

The band was formed in 1980 on the base of ВИА "Молодые Голоса" (Molodye Golosa (Russian: Young Voices)) that was lead by Matvey Anichkin (Матвей Аничкин) (musician and producer) since 1974. In 1978 Matvey Anichkin invited new musicians to the group, including Valeriy Gaina (guitar), Alexander Monin (vocals) and Alexander Kirnitskiy (bass) - full lineup included 12 musicians (also including Nikolay Chunusov on drums and Matvey Anichkin himself on tuba). Since 1978 the band played jazz rock/funk.

In 1980 Matvey Anichkin decided to transform "Molodye Golosa" into a rock band. So he formed the following lineup:
Matvey Anichkin - keyboards
Alexander Monin - vocals
Valeriy Gaina - guitar
Alexander Kirnitskiy - bass
Vsevolod Korolyuk - drums

But soon after Matvey Anichkin decided that he will be much useful if he'll be a full producer - and found new keyboards player instead of him: Sergey Sarychev.

So than became the so-called "golden lineup":
Alexander Monin - vocals
Valeriy Gaina - guitar
Alexander Kirnitskiy - bass
Vsevolod Korolyuk - drums
Sergey Sarychev - keyboards

In 1982 new drummer Nikolay Chunusov (who played in "Molodye Golosa" at various times), joined the group, as well as bassist Oleg Kuzmichev (instead of Alexander Kirnitskiy, who had left for family reasons) and second guitarist Grigoriy Bezugliy joined the group. Later Sergey Sarychev left, and new keyboards player Vladimir Kapustin joined as well.

In 1984 the band was officially banned and disbanded by Ministry of Culture of the USSR.
Since that band members Alexander Monin, Grigoriy Bezugliy, Oleg Kuzmichev and Nikolay Chunusov formed a new band called ЭВМ (original name for a short time was "Континент" ("Continent")).

In 1985 the band reformed with Valeriy Gaina on guitar and vocals with original bassist Alexander Kirnitskiy and original drummer Vsevolod Korolyuk. And with this lineup they recorded an experimental album under the name "КиКоГаВВА" (KiKoGaVVA) that was an acronym for band members names: (Кирницкий, Королюк, Гаина, Валерий, Всеволод, Александр) (Kirnitskiy, Korolyuk, Gaina, Valeriy, Vsevolod, Alexander) - because band name "Kruiz" was still banned (album was re-issued under the "Kruiz" name in 1996: "Круиз - КиКоГаВВА").

That album included some anti-war songs, so the government canceled the ban and allowed to use the previous name.
