Real name: Yvonne Vaughn

Born in Mount Airy, North Carolina in 1945, Donna Fargo moved to California in the 1960s, where she met and married producer Stan Silver. She released several singles on regional labels in the 1960s and then pursued a career as a high school English teacher. In 1971, she recorded a demo in Nashville on a school break; the session led to the release of "The Happiest Girl In The Whole U.S.A." and "Funny Face"; both singles reached #1 on the country charts and the Top 10 on the pop charts. Her popularity lasted throughout the 1970s and she released several albums and hosted a television variety series. She was diagnosed with MS in 1978 but continues to perform and record.
