Effective period / Period of releases: 1965 - 1968

Brazilian singer Ana Margarida was born 26 May 1944, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as Ana Margarida Chagas Bovet. She sang jazz, bossa nova and samba in Portuguese and English.

Ana Margarida came from a prestigious Brazilian family, dotted with public figures, who belong to the history of Brazilian culture. She gravitated to jazz and bossa nova music. In that mid-'60s so full of transformations, Ana Margarida was one of the exponents of the second phase of bossa nova, samba and similar, and performed frequently in the main clubs of Rio de Janeiro. She recorded her first album in 1965 which reflects the contemporary Brazilian jazz pop of the time.

Then married to the physicist and computer scientist Daniel Pierre Bovet, Ana Margarida records her second album in the United States (this time under the name Anna Margarida), for the Californian label Vault. Aimed at the American market the sound is overall more homogeneous and smooth, with a more constant rhythm, alternating between songs. The album did not sell well.

Subsequently she moved, with her husband, to Italy where she continued for a while as a singer (she played several times with Luis Agudo, the great percussionist collaborator of Baden Powell), had two daughters (Anna Francesca and Anna Paola), and in Rome she worked as a psychologist, specializing in child psychoanalysis, and in turn training generations of psychotherapists. ,

She died 31 May 2017, Roma, Lazio, Italy
