Protodeacon Pavel Gerasimov was born on February 16, 1930 in the village of Krutitsy, Dzerzhinsky District, Kaluga Region, into a family of workers. In 1949 he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary.
From February 1958 to December 1992 he was the choir director of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra (Хор Троицкого Собора Александро-Невской Лавры) and the Clergy Choir Of The Leningrad Metropolitanate.
