The "Savoy Havana Band" was an augmentation, created by American saxophonist Bert Ralton, of the "Savoy Quartet".The band was developed by Ralton in 1921, hired by the management of London's Savoy Hotel to catch the popular mood of the ever-growing dance band movement that would exist between the two world wars. The Savoy Hotel is in The Strand, London, UK.
The band performed between 1921 and 1927 and became a 'moveable feast' of musicians between the hotel's resident bands, the "Savoy Orpheans" and "The Sylvians", by 1927.
