The Naji al-Ali Band was the backing band of the Palestinian resistance singer أبو عرب (Abu Arab). He formed his first band in Jordan in 1980 under the name فرقة فلسطين للتراث الشعبي (Firqat Filasṭīn li-l-Turāth al-Shaabi). The group was renamed 1987 to Naji al-Ali Band in honour of the Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali that was assassinated in London that year and who was a relative of Abu Arab.
