Bestrass is a project born in Bologna during the cold winter of 2013, between two musicians: Leonardo Cannatella (vocals, guitar) and Jacopo Palasciano (chorus, guitar).
They immediately clicked because of their love for new wave sounds and post punk, early ‘90s, powerful guitar riffs.
In May 2014 they recorded their first self-produced track, Dream Friday, of a clear shoegaze inspiration. Although this experience, they felt the need to expand their duo. Therefore they decided to audition new musicians. That was the moment in which twonew me mbers became part of the project.
We are talking about Lorenzo Brogi, the drummer, and Francesco Brasini, the bass player. Despite the fact that these two members had a complete different music background, they helped the band find its unique style: expanded guitar riffs, distortions, hovering sounds, overwhelming volume and prolonged notes, in order to add more droning in their songs.
Because of this music texture, they have decided to call their genre dream wave. In fact, as if you were in a dream, it seems that their songs have originate in dark settings and in unreal and unconscious places, also thanks to the warm, deep and strong voice of the singer. The first EP, The Seasons, has been released in March 2016. It contains four tracks:
Uroboros (published on the internet in 2015 as a preview), Winter, Autumn and Transition.
