Son-band from Santiago de Cuba.
The Estudiantina Invasora was founded In Santiago De Cuba in 1927, by the twin brothers Luis and Manuel Valera. It is the only estudiantina that survived all of the changes in musical fashion. Nowadays (text of 1995) is led by Inaudis Paisán, former first trumpet player in the Santiago Symphony Orchestra. The only one musician of the1927 Estudiantina is Roberto Nápoles (84 yrs. in 1995). Musically, the estudiantinas reflect an interesting development in Cuban musical history, i. e. the blending of two popular traditions, the Danzón and the Son.
