Blind Before Dawn

Members: Davi Lovatt, Dan Maloney

Starting out under the name The Annex Chamber - a side project by Davi Lovatt of goth rock outfit SorrowS Of Isis - Blind Before Dawn became the main focus after the duo split in 1998. The following year Davi enlisted guitarist Shane Bostock, and the two of them recorded the sampler 'Flowers And The Filth'. Soon after the EP 'Distant' was released but quickly withdrawn from sale, as the band felt they could improve on what they had attempted before.
A few months later Bostock left the group and in his place Dan Maloney stepped in on Synths, however Maloney left before the release of the band's debut album 'Distance'. In 2003 Johna Curtis entered the fray, and with it came a new sound for Blind Before Dawn. Adding a heavier style influenced by J-rock, the guitar work by Curtis led to a more androgynous look to their live shows. The following year the duo made a start on the band's 2nd album 'Cold Heart', but Curtis left before completion.
By the late 00's Davi had been joined by David Novan and Mat Lahan on guitars and synths, and with the release of album 'Regress/Progress', this gave the trio a chance to tour with a plethora of the group's work from 1998-2008. In 2011 Davi decided that Blind Before Dawn had run its course, and so moved on to another project alongside Discordia under the name Kontaminant.
