Brother of jazz banjoist and guitarist player Paddy Lightfoot.

Terry formed his own professional jazz band in 1955 until 1965, after working with Kenny Ball (February-November 1967). He re-formed his own band (1967-1970s and 1990s-2000s). He was active for over forty years in music.
